Simon Cohen is a communication expert, speaker, consultant, trainer and founder of global tolerance, which describes itself as a positively different communications agency generating positive media coverage for principled organisations of all shapes and sizes. He is also an animal rights activist and a proud raw vegan. ==Career== After the September 11 attacks on the United States, Simon Cohen founded global tolerance to combat what he saw as irresponsible reporting on Muslims. The communication agency describes its mission as the use of PR and communications to harness the power of the media for positive social change. global tolerance has conducted media consultancy for the Dalai Lama, the Prince of Wales, Rajmohan Gandhi (grandson of the Mahatma), the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, among others. Cohen believes firmly in the power of faith, and has described its potential to help people in a range of situations. Cohen is known for his pioneering outlook on business. In 2013, he decided to take global tolerance on (sabbatical ) and in March 2014, Cohen conducted an (Open Leadership Exercise ) to find a new leader for global tolerance. Through the (OLE ), Simon offered 95% of global tolerance's shares, all assets, and £10,000 cash to the new leader. The OLE attracted applicants from 30 countries and involved a rigorous five stage interview process. In a surprise outcome, Cohen and his advisors selected not one but two of the (finalists ), Noa Gafni, a digital strategist from the World Economic Forum and Rosie Warin, an award-winning PR director from Forster Communications. The (exit strategy ) leaves Cohen with a 5% stake and advisory role in the company, and has won commendation from business leaders all over the world. Cohen has spoken at symposia such as the Caux Conference, Martin Luther King International Chapel, Council on American Islamic Relations, and John Marshall Law School’s Media Perceptions of Islam. He has spoken on media ethics and on religion in the media at international events including the Economic Forum in Poland and the World Spirit Forum in Arosa.
